I don't think white guilt has anything to do with the "issue" or more accurately, how it is being spread...that comes down to the same old thing...$ and exposure. and considering the overwhelming majority of people do not think it is racist...I really cannot point to white guilt.

do you realize how many black people feel they are discriminated against? That white people are overwhelmingly racist? Even if an opinion or sentiment is possible doesn't mean it is reasonable, with merit, or grounded in reality...individuals are smart, groups are dumb. Do you know how many people believe in JFK conspiracies, UFOs, and 9/11 conspiracies?
