I agree - leaving the body and blood in full view for so long was upsetting - I didn't like it at all.
HOWEVER, many have made the point - don;t know if valid or not - that it is NOT the role of officers on the scene to interact with the body in order to not contaminate any DNA or other evidence. They say the police must wait on a certified group to cover the body.
You can imagine that if the body had been immediately covered and cordoned off from view there would be just as much distrust of what was going on 'behind the curtain.' I guarantee those shouting most loudly about the body being left out in the street would then be shouting just as loudly about 'planting evidence.'
