Well for an 8 month old, they need to be sleeping through the night... I know easier said than...

1. Make sure that you are NOT letting him fall asleep in your arms and then putting him to bed. Infants will get used to falling asleep that way and could not put themselves back to sleep once they wake up at nights. Get him sleepy in your arms, then put him down so that he can go to sleep himself.

2. Establish a consistent bedtime routine so your baby will know that it's bedtime.

3. If you are still feeding him, stop! At 8 months, he should be eating enough and will not require night time feedings.

4. Never let him back in your bed, comfort him in his room and put him back to sleep in his room.

5. Breaking a infant's habit is hard: just realize that an infant can not hurt himself by just crying and screaming.

Asked and answer these 2 questions:

What is the WORSE that could happen if you just let him cry himself to sleep?

---> he will scream for a long time, maybe even get a little hoarse, but he will eventually go back to sleep.

What is the WORSE that could happen if you continue to go to him everytime he screams and take him back to your bed?

---> this habit gets reinforced, he cry longer and scream louder... soon he'll learn to get out of the crib and walk himself to your room!
