White men are independent, competitive, do-it-yourselfers.
That's why they are generally Republican and why they wouldn't support participation trophies.
I am a football coach in a large suburban high school. Do you know which sport I refuse to coach because of helicopter parents constantly complaining about their child not playing. The sport where parents write letters to the school board and initiate a witch hunt because the coach dared raise his voice at a player.....Baseball.
Coaching baseball in the suburbs is literally more catty than being the cheerleading sponsor. Forget whether the team wins as long as little Johnny gets his chance to play.
I guess it is because of all the minority kids and Democratic voting parents playing baseball.

Nope It's because baseball, unlike football is a sport where you can't hide behind your teammates. When you go to the plate, it's you against the pitcher and no one else. Every eye is trained on you. Therefore, it's much easier to see success and failure for the average parent who in reality knows little to nothing about the sport.

My kids are still too young, but I work with a lot of baseball parents who's kids are in these insane travel leagues, play baseball year around. Their whole life revolves around the kids baseball life - their vacations are baseball, everything. I think it's insane as 99.9% of them will never play competitive baseball again after they graduate high school.
