You are so invested in your view being right that you're not seeing how your bias has clouded your thought process here.

what bias? i used to think the era of my childhood was better. then i learned i was wrong. i already overcame my biases

quote:

The matter of the 80s vs today is one of perspective and perception.

why? you're trying to control the argument to suit YOUR biases. we can use objective data. there isn't anything wrong with that

For many it's worse today

who?

while for others it's better.

the vast, VAST majority of our population

You can't paint with such a broad brush like you're trying to do.

by using statistical data?

what do you use to compare things in life, since you want to ignore objective data?

what are you basing your argument on? i need specifics. why is the 80s better/

Your using data of the worst of that time to trash the while of that time in a gross oversimplification.

I'll try this again...
Imagine if someone was trying to compare living in Louisiana to living in Alabama. On the one hand they cite the govt projects of New Orleans and on the other hand they cite the muli-million dollar country clubs of Mountain Brook for Alabama. And they use these two factors as to why Alabama is a better place to live.
