Everybody feels that way about the time they grew up in. I remember my parents and their friends cursing the 80s. Bad clothing, bad hair, bad music, bad movies, kids were more insolent and needy, etc etc.
Personally, as a kid born in 86, the music is better now, the movies are better (though some originality would be nice), and we're starting to feel the effects of an improving economy.
I prefer it now, though even the 80s seemed simpler by comparison for kids.

no cell phones creates some serious issues, but also relieves a lot of burdens. The fashions of the 80s were unique, but awful. The sad thing is, a lot of them are coming back (high waist-ed pants, short shorts on guys, long shorts on women, popped collars, ect).
It was much more fun to be a kid back then, though. Everyone played outside, parents and and schools were much less strict, the drinking age was 18, the economy was booming, Baton Rouge was one of the premier stops for rock n roll, better movies, ect.
However, now offers a much higher quality of life as long as you're employed and not a teenager.

I'm glad that's not happening to me. I love new stuff. I appreciate my time growing up, but today is a pretty bad arse time.

I absolutely agree SouthofSouth, better technology makes this day and age the best we have known so far, it's just the 80's is more appealing to me lol, I guess you could call it nostalgia.
