A $34K job is much better than no job. Even if it is about $10K a year better than fast food.

Pretty standard for a regional glass company doing this type of thing. There are a few skilled jobs on the floor that will fetch a little more. Entry will start around $12/hr for non-skilled. Skilled will begin in the range of $16-17/hr. Non-skilled will top out around $14-15/hr. Skilled tops out around $19-20/hr. As with most manufacturing jobs, technology has reduced the demand for highly skilled positions on the floor. Computer tables calculate the most efficient ways to cut the sheets and do all the cutting. Machines do most of the drilling and cutting with loading/unloading being the main human labor. Running the tempering oven takes some skill and knowledge for 1-2 guys with one support man. A real good guy running the bands for insulated units makes all the difference on quality of the product. The guy who runs our bands is an absolute pro and makes it look like an art.
