12-14 handicap screams Callaway to me, not in a bad way, I just feel the lower budget Callaway sets are tailored to be forgiving.

Every Callaway iron I have hit on that budget have been very forgiving and go a good ways. X2-X2hot are a good set for their price.

You can also look into Taylormade, but I don't have any experience.

But really, I would go hit some. If it's no a monitor, at a demo day, someone elses.. don't go out and buy something blind. These days it's easy to buy something you don't like.
