Tethers have a 2 sec or so delay. Even if you get it off, he still has time to kill you.
Nova, can stop one. But still slower to get off with the animation, 1 throw, without a heal.... It does have a bigger AOE.

Fist of havoc stops them too. I still like striker Titans more.

I wear the skull of dire when I run it to help with this. It has definitely kept me alive to counter a sunbreaker before.
