The engram can be for any character type. If that doesn't matter to you...then gamble on the engram

If you've got enough motes, go for it. What else are you going to spend them on?
If you're a warlock, I read the other day that Xur doesn't come around too often with Exotic Chest pieces so if you're a warlock and want an exotic chest piece, get it. It appeared to be geared for those who mainly use the void subclass.
