Yes. All factions have different weapons and armor. You should plan on going with what you like as stats and skills.

Good to know. Not having enough play time to get to level 3 in each faction, I should have researched this before.

Something I haven't been paying attention to is the Strength/Discipline/Intelligence stats. I kinda just go with what piece of armor has the most light. That may be something to think about once I am not so dependent on random rare drops to level up.

I find it's better to choose armor based on your preference for intellect, strength, and discipline.

Which is to say you should use armor that has intellect and discipline.

Well, if you are above level 20 there is really only three types of light gear you should worry about. (All the vendors have regular legendary gear)

Legendary (+27 when upgraded)
Exotic (+30 when upgraded)
Legendary Raid sets. (+30 when upgraded.)

Because all three of these sets will always have the same amount of light when upgraded.

PS: For people looking to reach lv 30 as fast as possible it is best to have an exotic helmet. Just because the legendary raid helmet only drops on hard mode VOG. All other raid gear can drop on normal.
