i told ya'll there was a reason manufacturers were getting out of the plasma business so quick.

rush to market here with cheap OLEDs..why waste time spending money on 2001 technology when OLEDs are right around the corner?

I dont know how old you folks are BUT

This reminds me of the Betamax vs VHS fight.

Betamax rolled out first and with higher quality specs however, VHS was cheaper and eventually became the standard.
Im sure im leaving other details out but you get the point.

I have a 60" Sony XBR LCD. Out dated and obsolete but tsill working. Until it fails, I will wait.

Another thing to consider is content. The available avenues are becoming wider and more folks are "cutting the cord"
More reason to wait IMO

The reasons they abandonded plasma include the fact that LCD was outselling it 20 to 1, the inability to make a 4K plasma, the ability to make 4K LCDs Right Now in huge quantities, and the marketing push for 4K as the Next Big Thing, like 3D was the last few years.

OLED isn't cheap, not nearly as cheap as plasmas were at the end. It's yet to be seen whether they can produce OLED in sufficient quantity, and they likely won't try as long as 4K LCD sells well. LG is the only one currently interested in making OLED; Samsung and Sony/Panasonic have given up for now.
