I thought the early books in the series were very well done. And, perhaps counterintuitively, the parts that dealt with the various characters' human, pre-vampire lives were the strongest parts.
One quirk of the series though might be hard to pull off in a series of movies. I'll leave some

for those who haven't read the books and want to see the movies fresh.
What I'm talking about is Rice's tendency to take semi-villainous characters from one book and tell the next story from their point of view making them sympathetic and making them the protagonists in the next book.
She did it with Lestat and then again with the "cannibal" sisters. Even to an extent with Armand and maybe Marius.
I'm not sure how that would work in a series of movies. Although Game of Thrones pulled off some things that were kind of similar on TV.

I think that would work OK in a series of movies since they aren't just pure re-tellings of the same plot. The Vampire Lestat would be a good flick I think if they did it right.
Are they looking at a complete reboot? ignoring the two already portrayed movies?
