My wife and I have two young kids also. We have a one year old Forest River V-Cross travel trailer, and the model we bought was mainly due to kid considerations.

One, we got a "bunk house" floor plan, so the kids have their own room at the back of the camper. Second, the bathroom has an exterior door, so we can get to the bathroom in an emergency, such as when we are driving.

Also, we bought ours off of Craigslist.

I had a Keystone Raptor toyhauler and it was a giant piece of crap. Nice, but the thing was a total lemon and Dixie RV service department... what a joke.

All of the lights, awning, jacks etc. could be operated by remote control. Well the control unit went crazy and the jacks let down going down the road. The awning would go in and out at random times. The DC wiring was poor and connections would come loose. The power converter went out. Fridge control board burned up. Heater fan broke. I could keep going but you get the point.
