Ok honestly, to those who know a little about infectious diseases and disaster management..

What would have to occur with this disease that would be a cause for REAL concern for those here in the US?

A public health emergency would probably be declared if someone in the US (not the two in Atlanta) tested positive.

It would have to mutate to a strain that is spread through the air.

As of now, in a country like the US, we are not that much in danger of it spreading rapidly. It can only be spread through touching infected bodily fluids.

Read this

I did last week because I was curious about the disease. Turns out there are different strains; one of them possibly being transmitted airborne. However, that particular strain is not passed from monkeys to humans.
