The second season of True Detective will follow the death of Ben Caspar, the corrupt City Manager of a fictional California city who’s found brutally murdered amidst a potentially groundbreaking transportation deal that would forever change the freeway gridlock in California.

Three law enforcement officers from different cities and branches of the government are tasked with finding out who did it. They soon discover their investigation has much broader and darker implications than they initially thought.

Caspar’s 52-year-old corpse is found on a lonely stretch of the PCH near Big Sur - his eye burned out, genitals cut off and satanic symbols etched on his chest. It turns out he had a penchant for rough sex and may have been involved in the occult.

I'll watch. Hopefully he wrote another good story.

Does all his stuff have occult overtones in it? I was hoping they would go a little different this time but oh well. If they cast good actors and have a good plot I'll watch. No way they top season 1 though.

I have faith that it'll be good. However, I think we should look at it separately from the first season. In other words, expect good things but not the greatness of season 1.

Sounds like they wanted to remake Chinatown and were like "Oh its HBO...lets add Satan and Sex."

True Detective 2: The Yellow King Strikes Back.

I was hoping it would be a little different, but it sounds interesting.

Hopefully it's good. I really liked season up until the end which IMO really sucked.

I thought the first season was very good. I especially thought the acting from Matthew McConoghey and Woody Harrelson was great. If they can match that in season 2 I'll be happy.

I'm in the middle of reading Creation by Vidal and it deals in part with some of the eastern religions and some of the stuff about cycles and circles and such kind are not altogether different from some of the stuff Russ was rambling on about.

I kind of would rather they go that route maybe with different religions than strictly "occult". But in any event I am looking forward to the new season.
