Golf board: 10.5 vs 9.5 loft?

Been playing for a couple years now. Finally got my score typically in the low 80s. I've always had a driver with 10.5 loft and hit it on average ~260 yards. Most of the better golfers I play with hit a 9.5 loft. How much extra distance do you get out of that change and how harder is it to consistently hit accurate tee shots?

Go to the weekly golf thread on the MSB and you will get better info.

Depends on your ball flight.
But, yes typically, better golfers swing a lower lofted driver. You get more distance and workability out of it.

A lot of drivers today are low spin/low flight which may require you to loft up if you are use to swinging an older driver

It's not really possible to answer this question without seeing your other numbers. 9.5 might help you, or it might hurt you. It's all about getting the right launch angle for your swing. If you really want to know, go get on a trackman or similar launch monitor with someone who knows what the numbers mean.

Nobody on the OT uses anything greater than 5 degs for their driver. Only way to keep your avg drive above 350.

Whats your ball flight? If low, stick with what you got. If super high, get a lower launching or stiffer flex shaft and see how that works for you.

Really depends on preference.
When I was younger and learning, I struggled off the tee. I moved to a 10.5 from a 9.5 and absolutely loved it. It's "closer" to a 3 wood and easier to hit, I find.
I now hit 9.5 lofted driver moved to 8.8 (C2 on 910 D3 Titleist Driver) and it flights well for me while still keeping control with it.
The distance changes on the environment as well, soft fairways or wet conditions you could most likely hit it farther with 10.5 with the longer/higher carry. Harder, dryer conditions, a degree of loft could at 10-20 yards with rollout/release, which in theory could equal a club or 2.
There's no definitive answer imo, golf is a game of preference and individual swings, but depending on you handicap, 10.5 would be a lot easier to hit, but TYPICALLY wont go as far in regular conditions.

Good article in a recent Golf Digest about driver angles on the club face. I'd get and read that it may save you $400.
