Anyone had any dealings with a blood clot in your leg?

Been dealing with a DVT from mid-thigh to below my knee for about three months. In hospital for several days early on and had some procedures done that helped dissolve about half of it. Doctor put greenfield filter in above the clot and below the heart right off the bat, so that made the procedures less risky for sure. Now on coumadin which is a lotta fun.
Had blood tests run and its not a blood disorder, just a bad clot that happened. Had a clot 7 years ago - same leg, in thigh only, but no intervention. just cohmadine for a year, ultrasound was clear, and that was that. But the truth was the leg stayed slightly swollen and a bit discolored from that point on.
After the last episode, leg still swells during day but better in the morning when I get up, then it's like groundhog day... Pretty much the same thing every day. Dock says he might try one more "not risky" procedure and go in behind the knee (went in at ankle other times) and try to clear remaining clot and restore decent blood flow, which might translate to less pain and a less swollen leg.
Anyone have any experience with something like this?

My grandfather had one bad they thought they'd have to amputate the foot. As it started to turn colors. Possible gangrene.
He soaked it in Epson salt water for a couple days. Color returned and good as new.
Doctor says that didn't do anything but several people that had the same issue claim it cleared it right up. Take it fwiw.
ETA: this was a blockage.

My Aunt had some dealings with that. Same deal except she didn't make it past the knee procedure before the doc knocked the clot loose and it went to her brain, retarding her forever

I kicked the bottom of someone's soccer cleats with my shin back in highschool. Had to go to orthopedic doctor and he had to drain it. Pretty nasty

Have you tried putting on a TED hose of the affected leg? Should help with the swelling.
For all of the alarmist out there, he already has an IVC filter, which should catch the clot before it can go to his heart and subsequently his lungs (causing a pulmonary embolism).
I would have them repeat the hyper coagulate workup. If it was done right when you had the clot, it may not have been accurate.

1st off,wow.God bless you Dude.
I've never dealt with that.I'm 53.All my problems are skeletal, brain, pain, and bp.
I have been there. They stuck my sciatic nerve Jan.19.For the next 49 days I was there.
Going to the Dock at 9:30.Got 3 mri' and a
big ziplock baggy with 8 prescriptions in it.Only 1 for pain,so far.
1st appointment this morning at a Pain Mgt here. There are 5 here and I've heard she has a liberal pen.
Hope things go well.Low pain and all.

A coworker had one in her thigh. She took anticoagulants for about a year and it finally dissolved. From what I understand, it just takes time. Good luck.

My grandfather had one. It dislodged, and made its way to his heart, and killed him. Be cautious with that shite man. They had actually sent him home from the hospital bc they thought it cleared up. They were wrong, it just wasnt in his leg anymore when they xrayed it or whatever. And he died in his recliner that night.

I have first hand experience with multiple DVTs. The blood test you speak of is to check for a factor 5 mutation which I have.
The discoloration and swelling may never go away - it is Post DVT Syndrome lots of people end up with dis looted legs afterwards. Compression socks during the clot would have helped potentially but afterwards it is what it is.
It sucks but is somewhat manageable. The only upside is because of my proven medical condition I have convinced my employers that on flights over 5 hours I have to be in business class or better.

Blood clots ended the career of the greatest college football player of all-time, Tommie Frazier...
