How do these Nadal injuries affect the Federer vs Nadal GOAT argument?

Do they help Nadal because one can argue he'd have more titles without these injuries, or does it just make Fed's run that much more impressive. IMO Fed's play style is specifically tuned to avoid injury so he should get credit for that.

This. The fact that Fed has remained uninjured in a sport like tennis is amazing. Also, Nadal is a freak but the way he plays tennis is unnatural. The amount of force he uses from both his upper body and lower body directly leads to his injuries. These arent really bad luck random injuries

We have gone back and forth plenty but I dont think even he can say Nadals injuries are "bad luck". They are a direct correlation of him being the most physical tennis player I have ever seen

Fed certainly has not suffered the number of injuries that Nadal has, but who has? Let's not foget that Fed did suffer a bout with mono (which retired Soderling) and did go through a period where he was suffering from back problems, and Fed's record during this period of time wasn't all that great.

And what if Nadal ends up surpassing Federer's GS record by winning only French Open titles from here on out?

For being 33 i still feel Fed is the hungriest player out there. He is playing lights out right now and caught a break with Rafa out. That Wimbledon loss still stings, but he has another shot. He must take advantage!! Fed

It's a broken wrist. What do you want him to do?

You aren't suggesting his style was actually concocted for the purpose of avoiding injury, are you?

And Djokovic is still the favorite

Of course he is. He's the best player in the world playing on his best surface. He didn't forget how to play tennis at the altar.
