I am on the fence with legalization of mj. Part of me thinks it's no different than alcohol. If mj gets legalized what becomes the next drug to get legalized? Where does it stop?

Does it matter? Seriously.

What does having them illegal do?

People who want them, get them. People, like me, who do not want them, will continue NOT to do them even if legal.

shite, how much have we spent on the "drug war" and it has done absolutely nothing to stop drug use.

I think MJ, at the very least, would be a good pilot study for the possible legalization of other drugs (addiction rates, etc).

Why should it stop anywhere? Why does any drug need to be illegal?

Opiates were sold over the counter in the 19th and early 20th century. Some people got addicted. But society as a whole didn't collapse.

Shrooms will be the natural next one to be legalized.

hard drugs will not be "legal" in this country in my life time - coke, h, and meth. They might be decriminalized.
