Can We Stop Saying that High School Guys Run a 4.3 40?

I just saw someone say that in the thread about Campbell. I see it all the time.
Then, when guys get to the NFL combine, the fastest time in the whole draft is a 4.32 or higher EVERY. SINGLE. YEAR. unless your name is Chris Johnson.
All of the these 40 times are inflated. Either that, or they get SLOWER in college.

That's like asking to stop lying about Height/Weight not going to happen.

Who runs a 4.3 in high school?
Trindon Holliday. Maybe.
The times are so inflated, they make no sense.

Not to be a dick but inflated is a poor word choice.

George Campbell ran a laser timed 4.36 40 yard dash at the Opening in Oregon this year. What would call that?

Just assume they're handtimed, add .24, and unwad your panties. Problem solved.

Yeah, Campbell is one of the best athletes in the 2015 class.

I guess all the specialized training and advances in knowledge of how to properly train an athlete to peak condition, along with ever evolving and improving equipment would have no effect on performance.

Just compare the NFL combine with high school combines. Somehow these kids are getting slower over the years.

It's a bit of both. Only natural as they bulk up that they slow down a bit.. and the times are hand timed and inflated compared to the laser timed NFL.

hand times to electronic/laser times. Those guys at the Opening are getting tested on about the best stuff you can prior to the combine now, so those are legit.
Also, some guys do get slower or faster. The foolish op acts like he's never heard of an injury before, or a guy gaining muscle and losing some speed.
You should know when somebody says 4.3 hand times, you think 4.5 realistic.

H.S. measurabled are generally worthless. Overwhelming majority are exaggerated.

They don't.

I had two white high school football players tell me they ran 4.2 40's.

This is not true at all. 17 year olds are not at their fastest and then slowing down because they put on a little weight in college. The HS track guys go off to college and lift weights and get a little heavier, but they get faster. Male athletes are in their prime from age 21-26/27.
The HS kids haven't come close to tapping into their prime fitness level at age 17/18. NFL combine time is legit...the rest are not.
Here's a list of some NFL guys that also excelled in track & field. None of these guys were at their prime at age 17.

Truth. But some kids are that fast. Just not nearly as many as gets reported.
