San Antonio also represents a massive market for the Dallas Cowboys.
San Antonio local TV ratings during Cowboys games are always the third highest in the country behind only Dallas and the local market for the Cowboy's opposition.

and its too bad b/c as much as I like the rivalries with the NFC East I would LOVE to see a division that consisted of Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, and New Orleans.
hell... even IF a San Antonio team happened that division would not b/c there is no way in hell Jerry would ever give up the east coast exposure for a division that covers just two states.

SA is the classic pawn for stadium negotiations. No way it actually happens

NFL will go to London first I think. Them being the first London team would make for an odd mascot/location.
Maybe change them to the red coats.

San Antonio isn't getting an NFL team before LA
LA is never going to get an NFL team, because every NFL owner then loses a ton of leverage because of it.

London Broilers would be pretty sweet.

This will be the headline on espn in Feb
1. Rams back to LA (they can also leave after this season)
2. Raiders to San Antonio
ETA: 10 years from now when the A's have failed to get a stadium in Oakland they will move to NOLA and I will cum buckets

Yes they will. The Jags are moving west.

Explain.
It's the centerpiece of the standard tactic owners use to turn up the pressure for a new stadium.
1. Propose stadium
2. Handle public and political backlash
3. Threaten to move to Los Angeles.

Best chance.

Negative zero chance.

The A's are moving into Cisco Field in San Jose when it is finished. Roughly 2017-18.

as soon as a team gets fed up and starts talking to LA they get a new stadium. Over 1/2 the league has gotten new stadiums since the LA teams left.

Talked with Raiders owner Mark Davis again. Said he was in San Antonio to attend induction of Cliff Branch to a local Hall of Fame . . .

Davis said former San Antonio mayor Henry Cisneros is a friend and he met with San Antonio officials at his suggestion. Has no other comment

then why did they just sign a 10 year lease with oakland?

The talk of perhaps moving to San Jose or elsewhere is effectively put to bed and from the sounds of things, the A's won't be getting a new stadium in Oakland for at least 10 years.

They can opt out of that lease at any time they choose without penalty. Fine print bruh.
All they did with that was give themselves time for A) The Raiders to leave and then renovate O.co back into a baseball stadium like before, B) Give themselves time for Cisco Field to be finalized and built, or C) Get a completely new stadium in Oakland.

It's been explained ad nauseum and is pretty obvious, but NFL owners have been using LA as a public financing bargaining chip for years, and it's really ramped up in the last decade. The owners don't want an owner to move to LA, because the remaining 30 (not counting Green Bay) essentially lose LA as their own bargaining chip when trying to bilk their respective locales out of hundreds of millions of dollars in public financing of stadiums and sweetheart deals. Minnesota did it, St. Louis did it, Carolina did it, and the Chargers are doing it.

An NFL team is upset that taxpayers won’t hand over money to fix its stadium. Word gets out the team is pondering a move to Los Angeles.
If you guessed I’m talking about the Chargers, you’re right. If you guessed I’m talking about any other team, you’re right.
In recent months, both the Miami Dolphins and Carolina Panthers have followed the NFL’s time-honored tradition of threatening to take their talents to the nation’s second-largest television market to squeeze public dollars out of their respective cities.
quote:
Sam Farmer of the L.A. Times described one of the most outlandish efforts in a December 2010 Q-and-A:
One of your best insights during the Los Angeles stadium search is that Los Angeles has more value to the NFL without a team than with one. Can you explain what leverage the NFL has with a team-less L.A.?
Los Angeles is a huge hammer for the league to hold out there — for any team to intimate that they might relocate to Los Angeles, which seems like a very real and natural possibility. It’s the nation’s second-largest market. We saw it with (Saints owner) Tom Benson in New Orleans, we saw it with (Colts owner) Jim Irsay in Indianapolis. Jim Irsay had his Colts plane at Van Nuys Airport with the Colts horseshoe logo on the tail section and it was parked there for a week uncovered, uncanvassed, or whatever you say.
