What will our defense hold Melvin Gordon to?

He's a GREAT running back averaging 8 yards per carry and coming off of a 1600 yard season.
I think he has like a 15 for 90 ish game with a 30 yard run. Our interior is gonna be crucial stopping him. We have the speed on the edges and in our linebackers to chase him sideline to sideline so if we can shuffle him inside I think we can limit his ability to make plays.

Since he is the only working part in their offense with a good o line..... Between 100-150 yards.

He will have more than 15 carries cause they wont be able to pass for shite...ill go with 27-112...over a hundred but shitty yards per carry to get it.

I'd say over 20 too but they'll probably utilize 3 different backs. I also think they return their QB who is somewhat mobile????

Not mobile. Stone feet. Think mett but without the arm. Or anything that made mett good. And then you have Stave. (wisky qb)

most of his yards will be in the first half, but their passing game wont yield much forcing them to play from behind. in the second half they will try to throw more, but it will be too late and the tigers run away with it. he will have roughly 110 yards with a td.

Sounds about right.

So other than that he's just like him right? Cool.

140yds? He'll get his. I'm especially worried about him on the outside if their OL are quick enough to get to our LB's (which I don't THINK they are).
If he gets under 140yds, we win.
If he has under 20 carries, we win (lots of 3-n-Outs)

I'm a tiger fan in Madison, WI, and the feeling up here is Wisconsin will switch to Connor McEvoy at QB this season. Word is he's a much better runner than passer, and he's a good enough athlete to get snaps at safety last season.
So I think they're going to pretty much abandon the pass and run some version of the spread.
Wisconsin ALWAYS has a good, strong offensive line. And they have multiple good backs; it's not just Gordon. So I could see them gaining 150 as a group. It depends on how well our interior backers and d-line get off blocks.

Woah!
If he's a good enough athlete to get snaps from the safety position, we need him to play safety for US!

I PRAY they try to run some kind of newly installed option offense on us. Watching the Tigers ravage a Ga Tech offense would be a lot of fun.

21 carries for 138 yards and a TD. He's the best RB in college football.

They'll have 150 rushing yards between Gordon and Clement

we will stack the box, he will get his but he will be contained

Ever heard of Todd Gurley he's better than Gordan.

Tanner, not Connor.
The 'feeling' does not match reality, at this juncture. As early as yesterday, according to Tom Mulhern, Gary Andersen will split reps between Joel Stave and Tanner McEvoy in practice... for now.
Edit: I am operating under the belief that Stave will start the season and McEvoy will finish it. I do not think it will be lack of production that forces Stave out of the game, but injury. He has had shoulder/collarbone problems dating back to high school and his latest injury that held him out of the spring game is concerning.

Correct. Over the past few years, Wisconsin has been very good at having multiple RBs produce big numbers. It will be the same this season with Melvin Gordon and Corey Clement. As a true freshman last season, playing in a third-string role behind Gordon and James White, Clement managed to post close to 550 yards rushing (8.2 YPC) and seven touchdowns.
It is my belief that Gordon and Clement are two of the most physically-talented RBs that Wisconsin has ever had. Together, it is obvious they have not matched the production on the field as a as a James White, Montee Ball, and John Clay (who all played together at one point or another). They both are, however, very talented RBs.

Gurley is the better pure runner, but Gordon is the bigger home-run threat.
In any case, I would agree that Gurley is a better back than Gordon.
