Wilt Chamberlain's minutes played per game in a season -- 48.53

Wilt Chamberlain's number of 50 point games in a season -- 45 [Jordan and Kobe combined for 60 in their careers]

Wilt Chamberlain's most rebounds in a game -- 55

Wilt Chamberlain's most consecutive double-doubles -- 227 [Elvin Hayes 55 and Kevin Love 53 are the closest non-Wilt]

Wilt Chamberlain's most consecutive triple-doubles -- 9 (also the only player in history with a double-triple double with 22 points, 25 rebounds, and 21 assists)

Those triple doubles would likely be quadruple doubles today as blocks were not a stat back then.

yup, but one bad day and you're done
sure. But you can catch a pass in every game of your 13 year career, and have a bad game and Rice's record would be safe. At least in DiMaggio's hit streak quest, you could start it again the next night...

And let's be honest, if it were that easy, it would've been broken by now

1. Maravich ppg in college (and he did that with no 3pt line or shot clock)

2. DiMaggio's 56 game hit streak. The recent book Kostya Kennedy wrote called '56' is tremendous. With specialty relievers now, there is no way this is matched or broken.

3. Orel Hershiser's 59 inning scoreless streak.

4. Wilt Chamberlain's 100 point game.

I wouldn't put it past AP because he's a freak but given the history of running backs falling off a cliff at 30, I can't see him averaging 1500 yards for the next 5-6 seasons. If he does, hed probably be the GOAT

I would be shocked as well, but I certainly think he has two or three more great seasons in him. Any doubt of him being human was erased after 2012.

Also, my post was somewhat joking about how he always makes absurd predictions for himself like 2,500 yards in a season.

No Pistol Pete?

Wilt's 55 rebound game is more untouchable than his 100 pt game IMO

he'd be the oldest RB in history. not happnin. he got about 4 left, maybe

Smith retired when he was 35. That means AD would have seven more seasons left if he also retires at 35. He would need an average of about 1,175 if he plays seven more seasons. Obviously, his production will slip a little, but that's certainly manageable for him. Let's pretend AD averages 1,250 yards over the next four seasons (he's only had one season in his entire career when he's had fewer than 1,250, and that was when he only played 12 games in 2011 and had 970 yards, so despite aging, I think that's a pretty conservative estimate). He's now only about 3,000 yards short at this point, with three seasons until he hits 35. And if he's reasonably close at 34 or 35, I could see him playing until he was 37 or so, even in a backup role, just to get the record.

In 1945 Nelson enjoyed a record-breaking year, winning 18 of 35 PGA tournaments including 11 in a row

Tiger could have won more than that in a year if he wanted to, he was just to good to stoop to playing in NOLA or Milwaukee

Mike and Mike were discussing AP's chance to beat Emmitt's rushing record and said that to break it he would have to maintain his career average for 6 more years.

It's not happening.

I think AP ends up breaking it, but not by much.

Pistol's PPG in college hoops

I won't say absolutely never, but breaking Wilt Chamberlain's 100 point game record will likely never happen

I'll go with a couple that are never mentioned:

John Stockton - 15,806 career assists
John Stockton - 3,265 career steals

No one at present has a realistic shot at breaking those marks, and only Magic could have challenged the assist mark if he had played another 6 or 7 seasons.

But he can play for more than six more years. He can play for eight, even nine more years if he wants to (barring a career-ending injury). Obviously, if that happens, the last three or four of those years will not be close to the elite level we've come to expect from him, but they don't have to be for him to get the record.
