I think this definitely needs to happen. No reason for the state to sit idly with arguably the best venue and travel destination possible while Houston, Dallas and Atlanta make bank.

As for the revenue, it's less than a single game as we're only getting paid upfront fixed cost that's guaranteed. We don't get a percentage of ticket sales, concessions or anything like that. ESPN is actually the one paying the teams directly in accordance with their deals with the stadium owners.

LSU is trying to attract out of state students too. Playing a big game against a solid new opponent every year helps with that. If Louisiana wants to keep that money, New Orleans should start a kickoff game

The game is on TV still. Random people in Houston aren't going to this game and suddenly becoming LSU fans. I still would rather it here or do them less frequently so we aren't screwed out of a home game every year.

Do u advertise gnx6 at your business? There will be commercials during this game hoping that exact thing happens for their products. They get 30 seconds and pay for this exposure. We get 60 minutes and get paid. We will gain many new fans from this game, if we play well, even more.
Some of this advertising without a doubt will trickle down and enhance recruiting and enrollment.
Certainly being selfish about your own business and travel has merit here, but its the smart thing to do if your business is LSU football.

Let's take 2011 for example. 6 home games yet the taff fees are the same whether you have 6 or 8. So you are paying more per ticket for shittier games. You won't be able to give tickets away this year except for Ole miss and bama. Just terrible.

Nobody is forcing you to pay the TAF fees. Buy tickets on the open market for each game you want to go to. Or, stop complaining.

That's highly debatable. With so may games on TV you're not getting some huge exposure increase due to playing a game in a geographic area. This whole concept is completely overblown, IMO.

We will also attract far more students by increasing our academic ranking and prowess than we will ever attract by playing a football game in Houston.

YES! Camp Randall looks like it is Nucking Futs. One of those college football atmospheres that makes college football a great sport. I'd geaux.

U can debate it and consider the Houston exposure as way over blown if u choose. And u are correct in your last sentence. Not sure the relevance of this, but I do agree with it.

Rook, u state LSU isnt getting paid and the exposure is overrated.

Why is LSU and Wisconsin doing this series then, in your opinion.

You're assuming Wisconsin was willing to do that. You're assuming the 2 TV contracts all that to happen as well

Obviously not one single game, but this premise is highly debatable.

LSU isn't making as much off of this game as they would off a home game. They will be making more off of the 2 neutral site games combined than they will off of 1 home game. It's probably not a shite ton more, but it is more and it's guaranteed.

Lsu makes more from this game than a home game, but the Baton Rouge economy takes a big hit by losing a home game

LSU will make more money off the Reliant game than they would a home game. We will make less off the return trip ($2 million + still).

It is a shite ton more. I would imagine it would be around $7 million total compared to the $3-4 we would get from a home game

7 is too much. It will probably end up being around 5 to 6 for both (the Texas Kickoff Classic paid around 2.5 million to both schools last year).

The home game is probably 4-5 million with the increased seating capacity depending on size of the game, concessions, weather, etc.

Bingo. No loss and all gain for TAF. They don't have to care about the local, small-to-medium sized businesses; just businesses that pay for advertisement.

New Orleans is out as a host site due to Southern Decadence. Tons of gay guys spending boatloads of cash won't be moved. It is just too lucrative for the hospitality industry in the city. Asking the NCAA to sanction THE opening game in Nola the Monday night before that weekend seems more feasible. He'll the season starts officially two days later this year on that Wednesday. Will it fly, prolly not. But the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation should be all over this.

It is not LSU's concern or job to make sure local business make money.

Improving Louisiana's economy is, quite literally, LSU's only reason for existing as an institution, much less as a football team.

All I know, is that it is going to be awesome to see the Tigers play in Lambeau. Seen all three games in Jerry World and I know the Houston trip will be great but going up north next season is going to be bad arse!!!

If you were correct, they wouldn't play the game in Houston. You have no idea what you're talking about on this topic and you should abandon your point.
