Nice man, what games you got so far for PS4?

Game is worth experiencing. I don't think "fun" is the correct word to use when describing The Last of Us, but it was entertaining.
The ending was poorly done though and not the least bit satisfying.

I agree with you on not satisfying but I don't see how it's poorly done

It seemed to go against everything that you had worked to do up until that point and portrays Joel like a deranged psychopath.

Which is why it's perfect. He finds something he wants to protect and does everything within his power to do so. Even if that includes destroying any chance humanity has of a cure.

It's not what you expect but it fits Joel's character. Joel isn't a saint by any means and finally found someone else he cares about.

I got the impression at the end of the game that Ellie didn't want to be protected. It's strongly implied in a couple of places that she was willing to sacrifice herself, and we never actually see Ellie before she goes into Surgery at the Firefly camp.
There's no reason to believe she didn't go into surgery willingly, but I feel like Joel was more concerned with saving her for his own sake as he had begun to see Ellie as his own daughter. This is first evident near the end where he asks Ellie if she just wants to turn around and go back to Tommy's town.
Towards the end of the game, he murders an entire camp of Fireflies including the innocent doctors just so he can take Ellie back to Jackson County and live with her as his daughter. Not to mention lieing to her about virtually everything that happened at the Firefly camp right before the end of the game where it's pretty easy to tell Ellie saw through what Joel was telling her.

You nailed it. But does any of that make it bad? Joel made a selfish decision but honestly the game was never really about saving humanity anyway. It was about Joel and Ellie.

Objectively probably not.
From a subjective standpoint, I thought it was extremely unsatisfying. I felt like the writers tried too hard to make the ending morally ambiguous. In a game where virtually nothing is black and white, that probably sounds like a good idea, but I don't really think it is. A simplistic, definitive ending would've been a change of pace. Either a) deliver Ellie to the Fireflies and discover a cure for the infection or b) rescue Ellie who clearly does not want to be killed and live happily ever after in Wyoming.
The game is about the journey and the journey needs a goal. In the last 5 minutes of the game, virtually every action attributed towards reaching that goal is reversed and the main character becomes extremely unlikable and slightly creepy.

Yep. Joel is not a good person and they let you know that all game. He only seems good in comparison to the other people.
I completely understand not being satisfied with it. But that doesn't make it bad.

I'm not so sure. I think it's largely semantics.
The ending had me wondering why I spent all that time and effort getting to that point in the first place.
It wasn't just because it wasn't a happy ending. I fully understand where they were going with that ending. I didn't like it.
I just thought it was ham-fisted. I understand Joel is not technically a "good" person, but the entire game is about Joel slowly warming up to Ellie and only in the last 10-20 minutes of the game did he start to enter dangerously creepy territory treating Ellie as his replacement daughter.

Just got to the part where I met up with the black buggy and his son.
Without spoilers about how far am I in the game? I'm not looking forward to the ending...hope I still have a long ways to go

Sacrificing Ellie to the fireflies didn't make much sense either. They were trying to "save humanity" but they were way too late, humanity had already destroyed itself. There wasn't even a guarantee that Ellie being operated on would have resulted in a cure, so Joel did the fatherly thing and killed everyone involved

I'm just a little further than you, been playing a lot of multiplayer though.

Sorry for the spoilers guys.
Spoilers
Joel was basically her father by the end. He did what most father's would do. Neo druckman, the writer and director, said he would have done the same thing for his kids.
SBR is right to say humanity may have already been beyond saving.
