A teams success begins and ends with the QB position. Our QB situation is unknown, so therefore any predictions that you make about this team are just that, predictions.

Agreed, we've got a lot of talent, and the pieces are there. We may be young at QB, but we've got one of the top QB mentors as our OC, so that should work itself out. Our defense and O-line alone will keep us in every game. The schedule sets up really nice as well. If we can beat Wisconsin, we've got 4 home games to get our young guys up to speed. So much potential in this team, and I'm excited!

2010 and 2011 LSU football seasons, 24-3, 15-2, say hello!

all of the guys on your list had more playing experience than either of LSU's QBs
Manziel, Winston and Newton had less college football playing experience combined than Jennings has. The closest any of them had was Newton's JUCO time. Neither Manziel nor Winston had taken a single snap in a game, and both were in their second year out of high school and in the program. Jennings is also in his second year out of high school, his second year in the program, and he has the experience of a start in a bowl game plus very meaningful time in multiple SEC games on top of some mop up time throughout the season.

Not to say that he's some kind of seasoned veteran, but that's comparable experience to most first time starting QBs (like McCarron, for example).

Other than AJ had a full RS yr. and was going into his 3rd yr. within the SEC and the Bama program.

A yr. in a program can be a big + for a QB. Look at the difference a yr. made with Mett.

Both Qb's had two years experience though. And Lee was really good until Miles let JJ come back. These guys have very little if no experience.

A very good and talented South Carolina team beat Wisconsin 34-24 in the Cap 1 bowl last year. We have a defense that was ripped all year last year, and have poor line backer and front 4 play. I feel we will need to grow up at QB very quickly. Last year we might have had the best pure passer ever at LSU, and 2 of the best receivers ever on the field at the same time. Its gonna be tougher this year than most think.

That's true, but neither QB was responsible for the LSU success in either yr. imo

And no one is to blame for the QB change more than JL.

I agree here. And been saying this for months. Wisky is NO pushover. The are a talented team that will give us a good game. Do we have an advantadge with depth and speed? Yes. But experience is huge in this 1st game.

It has been seven years since a talented young QB helped to win us a national championship. I think we're due another.

What? Jl was playing pretty good until the UK game when Miles made a HUGE mistake by letting JJ play. It shot any confidence that JL had. If LSU fans can't see this you are blind.

Did Miles also make a mistake when he let JL play in 2010?

With all due respect to JL, but if allowing JJ to have like 4 snaps in a 35-7 win ruined his confidence then he was a pretty weak minded QB to begin with.

And I don't believe it did. So, I guess I must be blind.

Bama did JL in...not Miles or JJ.

I think our 2 guys this yr have more talent than JL/JJ had combined.

The comment was about game experience. McCarron had a redshirt year, of course, but he did not get any game experience during that season. His game experience coming into 2011 was comparable to Jenning's, with the notable exception that he had never started and had never seen meaningful time under center in significant games.

Jennings may not have the familiarity with the system that McCarron may have had. But he will likely have a bit more composure and poise early on due to his previous experience as "the man". Think about McCarron in games like Georgia Southern early in his 2011 campaign.
