I am no Luke McCown fan, but hearing the reports on Ryan Griffin and also seeing Chase Daniel likely gone from the Chiefs after not making much progress up there, anyone thinking that the Saints haven't been able to really develop these guys into anything worth keeping around?
Yes, I know about the rumor that some team (St Louis?) wanted Griffin last year, but so what? Is he worth the roster spot at this point?

We're in day 3 of training camp. Let's see how things play out. And if he doesn't get any better, oh well. There's a reason he was drafted late.

It's day three. Although, in your defense, some dude on here had Corey White cut as of yesterday

If he can beat out McCown, yeah.

You say that as if they're talented players that we're not "developing". They're late round/udfa prospects that we have to be the second string/practice squad qb. We're not trying to make them the future after Brees.

We thought highly enough of him last year to let him take a roster spot. I think it's the only time we've carried 3qbs under Payton. But hey, let's discount him after 3 training camp days.

From all accounts he's had a great offseason

Griffin turned plenty of heads in front of the fans assembled for their first look at the 2014 version of the team including a stretch in which he had four consecutive touchdown throws during a red zone drill.

It's not like they've rolled first and second round pikcs thru here. They are mostly late rounders or UDFA. There's a reason for that. Maybe they just aren't very good? Can't coach everyone to play at an NFL level

I'm rooting for Griffin, but ultimately he will be holding the clipboard his entire career.

Am I reading correctly that Griffin is now the front runner to win the #2 Qb job? Looks like the OP may have jumped the gun.

How many teams have legit starting QB's in this league?
How many teams have two legit starting QB's in this league?

Point is its hard/lucky to have one stud QB. And its even harder to "develop" two at the same time.
We have decent back-ups. You'll just have to be happy with being like 95% of the other teams in that regard.
