I never understood this with the NBA. Why do teams that know they are tanking go out and hire retreads for a few years and then actually look for a coach in a couple years? Why not go out and hire a young promising coach for a 2 year stint? If he is actually a good coach, you are set for the future, if he is not a good coach you are in the same boat you would be in with a Byron Scott/Mike Woodson

Like 80% of coaches in the league are first time NBA coaches.

Because they know the team will tank under him, letting them rebuild with draft picks. And after that they fire him, making the whole 4-year contract look like they were in it for the long haul with him but it just didn't work out. If they only gave him 2 years it would make the intentional tank more obvious.

the fanbase will have already rejected the young coach 8/10 times

you hire a retread b/c they know how to be a coach. you won't get any marc jackson-type scenarios

just like why certain bad directors and actors keep getting work. sometimes you hire guys you know can finish the movie
