You just described George Zimmerman's actions yet he was indicted

George Zimmerman was absolutely NOT indicted by a grand jury. The charges against him were brought by the prosecutor alone under a Florida law that let her bypass Grand Jury. The were brought in that fashion most likely because the local investigation found (correctly based on that embarrassment they called a trial) the evidence didn't support a proscution but the media and POTUS demanded one.

Gil Collar was on an experimental drug, 25I that night. This is the same stuff that killed someone at jazzfest a couple years ago I believe. It affects everyone differently, and in some cases enables you to tolerate pain that one usually wouldn't be able to tolerate. Unfortunately it can turn a nice kid into a rabid monster, and that's what happened here unfortunately. On his way to the Police Station from the dorms, he jumped into a car at a stop sign and bit a girl. The guy driving punched him repeatedly in the face and apparently Gil wasn't affected by the punches at all. I hate that this happen, and I can't imagine I would have shot him but I'm sure he looked absolutely insane. This was the same time that bath salts were all in the news so I'm sure that type of thing was on the cops mind. I've heard this cop was a douche, but I really can't judge unless I was in that situation. Basically just a really sad story that involved a death after taking 25I for the first time. Moral of the story, don't ever touch that drug, or any of those experimental drugs for that matter.

How dare you bring facts to a TD cop hate thread!

If you've never fought someone on one of these drugs, you've got no idea what they can do. Pepper spray is ineffective. Tasers are often ineffective. Their strenght in incredible. I'm an EMT. We and the PD responded to a call one night and encountered a female that didn't weigh 100 pounds going full on nuts attacking everybody and everything (walls, furniture, etc) in the house. She'd already bitten her husband's forearm arm clear to the bone. It took four men to subdue her. As we pinned her to the ground, two guys had her torso pinned to the ground while the third was trying to cuff her. I had her legs at the calves and was laying on them. I'm 5-11, 190 and she was lifting me off the ground with her kicks.

Given what he'd already done that night and what he was on (and the fact that the officer wasn't issued a taser which might or might not have worked), the officer really had two choices - let him run off had hope he came down before seriously hurting people or shoot him. It is pretty much a guarantee he wasn't going to take him in a fight.

As a parent (who also has a Wetumpka, Al address), I feel for his family. Everything indicates he was a good kid who was probably just feeling out the freedom that comes with being an adult and away from home for the first time but the fault for what happened that night rests solely on him and whomever supplied the drugs.

You can find numerous examples of cops using excessive force with no effort at all but this isn't one of them.
