It matters because if they are going to come after Obama and only Obama it is not much of a wake up call. I mean they have killed hundreds already, crucified dozens of Christians, destroyed priceless archaeological sites so if the price of getting them to stop is Obama I would think the sensible thing to do is to listen to the offer.
Whats the alternative, have 1,000's more die for one man?
For the record I am not an ISIS supporter. In fact if we want to go all out against them I am in. But none of our leadership has the stones to do anything about them so as an intellectual exercise this is an alternative.

Doesn't the fact that terrorist want to kill our president hurt y'all's constant talking points about him being a terrorist himself?
What kind of American does it make someone when they are cool with terrorist killing the American president?
I don't agree with many of Obama's policies and have never voted for him, but I would definitely take his (or any US President) side against a terrorist organization.
