Courts (including the Supreme Court) have interpreted Section 1 of the 14th Amendment to confer due process rights to illegals. In so doing, they have ignored both the actual language of the Section, as well as the intent of the drafters of the Amendment (to confer citizenship to freed slaves and to prevent former Confederate states form interfering with their rights as US citizens [essentially, a "frick you" to Roger Taney and the Dred Scott decision).
