If you are on the Gulf Coast, do not do this. Unless they are using long nails, high winds will peel those things like a satsuma...

This.

I know it's starting to become frowned upon to overlay. Even some places are making it against code to overlay.

Not to mentioned the added weight it puts on the house and also not to mention that it's a good way to rot roof decking out faster.
