i'm not arguing against this point at all. but i think you do this on your own, not in college. what are you going to be able to learn in college that you cannot do on your own by picking up a literature book?
i know it's a bit the same with sciences, but at the end of a sciences degree, you have a degree that is probably required for employment. with the humanities, your degree is not required for employment.
i'm saying that if you want to get a good job out of school, do the sciences (not finance or business, lol). that's your ticket to financial security. learn the arts on your own time. read a book a week (probably putting in more time doing that than the vast majority of humanities majors did during their college schooling).
just because you major in the humanities and got a degree, even with honors, doesn't mean anything. it's watered down, and anyone with a decent intelligence can fly by in the humanities without any effort.

while i agree, this argument applies the other way, also. want to learn accounting? coding? biology? you can do that on your own, too.

A humanities degree is as hard or as easy as you want to make it. I knew plenty of undergrads involved in research and internships who challenged themselves. These are the humanities degree holders that I see doing very well today.
