Gympsum- Not as effective, but cheap
Aluminum sulfate- Very effective, but expensive

grass is ok. you dont want hydrilla and certain others. The grass I have is about 6-12 inches tall, green stalks, no flowers no lilypads and the bass and bream love it....

I have coontail grass that has over taken my pond.

Oh, I have so much that the bullfrogs are now staying out in the middle most of the time.
