since CG's aren't as common
Didn't Darvish just throw his first CG as a big leaguer a few weeks ago? I don't think CG's would be a problem with him.

Incorrect. He can opt out at the end of 2016 if he meets the requirements.

He missed out on a couple of no-hitters in the 9th inning if I remember correctly and was then replaced afterwards. He's a strikeout pitcher and for the most part, they tend to rack up high pitch counts. That Texas heat doesn't do him any favors as well.

But if you could make a deal whereby Darvish and Tavares are the main pieces, maybe add Shelby and either Profar or Odor as well, in?

His deal was for five years with a player option for a 6th. He signed in 2012, 2016 would be the end of the original five year deal.
But the contract also allows him to opt out after four years if he either wins the Cy Young or finishes in the top 3 for three of the first four years.

I would not trade Oscar for anyone available.
Opposite of what we need.

Yes, but in the AL you need more CG's from starters since you aren't keeping extra ones on staff due to pinch-hitting for the pitcher, like you do in the NL.
Darvish's big problem with Texas is that he can't beat Oakland--the team that you have to beat to win the division or at least get a playoff spot. And with the Rangers well out of playoff contention--for this year and easily the next 6-8 given the number of bad contracts they took on--he won't be making the playoffs with this team.
The Rangers should be getting what they can for Darvish, Beltre, anyone on their team that another team may want. So far their entire deal-making has been Jason Frasor for another never-was.

True but that was so he could reach a milestone (the first was the perfect game lost on the 27th batter, the other was a no-hit bid).
Usually we're lucky to get 7 out of him.

I'm not a fan of the rangers but I disagree. They'll be back in the playoff hunt next year. Bookmark it.

You haven't learned your lesson by now?

I told myself that after the first comment but then I just couldn't help myself.
