You really going to recommend someone coming from another country to walk around and try to find tickets on gameday ?

I would.

He will probably be able to get tickets for free when someone hears his accent and realizes he came to the game from Sweeden.

I know if I had extra tickets to this one I would.

No way he pays more than $25 a ticket at the stadium on gameday.

That's a cool guide with lots of specifics, thanks! I already got us two tickets for $25 each on the upper deck. Maybe I'll be able to trade them for the lower deck with some foreign charm ;)

No doubt. Though the upper deck can be fun in itself. Totally different experience. For someone with little knowledge of football (such as your lady friend) it would probably be more exciting in the main bowl though.

Make sure you come here the week before the game and I'm sure we can set you up with a few tailgates to make sure you hit. You are more than welcome to check out our krewes spot.

if you like football, then American college football is the only thing that compares as far as traditions and the passion of the fans. Our stadium has been added on but even before compares to the likes of nou camp.

You will not be disappointed and i think it is a better experience than any NFL game.

Wow those seats are great! Mine are in the middle of the upper east section. Wanna switch tickets or something?

By all means, post about your experience after the game.
I took my buddy from Holland to a game once and he was amazed.
The Dutch can party, but he said "Tiger fans are professionals!"

That's some southern hospitality for you right there. I really appreciate it. Are they regular tickets or e-tickets? We could discuss details on email or something?

I will post some pics and thoughts after the visit for sure!

i think some of the age ranges are way off in in the bar selections. Like Bulldog, Over 40s there, into 60s, is very common.

I plan to take a French co-worker to a game this fall as well. He's all about soaking up and doing as the locals do for his couple of years that he plans to live/work here. As it should be, if I were an ex-pat I'd be doing my best to be exposed to the local culture.

1. If you can, make sure you come up to Baton Rouge the night before and stay near campus within walking distance of the stadium (maybe the hotel on nicholson or the Lod Cook Hotel on Sorority Rowe). Traffic will be nuts on game day. It could take anywhere from one hour to 5 hours to get from New Orleans to BR depending on traffic. Going the night before and finding a hotel room will make all of that much easier, or just sleep in your car.

Don't buy tickets ahead of time. You should have no trouble finding tickets for next to nothing outside of the stadium before the game.

Wear purple and gold.

Be nice to people and say that you're visiting from out of the country, they will likely invite you to their tailgate, provide you with alcohol, and feed you. It's a great way to make friends.

DO visit the Tiger Cage
DO watch the band come down the hill (both of those can be done at practically the same time)
DO hang out on the Indian Mounds and release your inner child by rolling down them.
DO visit the Parade Grounds and laugh at 18 year olds getting written up for MIPs (Minors in possession of Alcohol) by undercover cops.
DO make it in the stadium at least 30 minutes before kickoff to watch the band play pregame.

Even though Sam Houston is a "rent-a-win" as they say (an actual game against a very weak opponent), there will still be north of 100,000 people on campus on account of the game being the home opener, though far less will be in the stadium. Since it's a night game, there really isn't a bad place to sit. I would rank tickets as follows: West lower>West Upper>East Lower>North>South lower>East Upper>South Upper. Suites>club>reserved

It shouldn't be difficult at all to find two reserved tickets before the game at way under face value, someone may even give them to you for free before the game starts.
