It is when an individual loses sight of the reason for the action in the first place.

Much like you see here with these gang members, blood simply for the sake of blood is not a rational response. It is an emotional one.

Although, it could be stated that any act would be an emotional response, making the claims of rational actions false, unless the action can be both rational and emotional. A possibility.
