That's why about 50% of the radio hits have a cameo verse by some rapper. Yup. Definitely dead.

Not me, but a ton of people do. Point still stands: rap is more prevalent, mainstream, and relevant than its ever been collaborations with indie artists from other genres. A few examples:
Kanye and Bon Iver

Rap isn't dead but the days of a bunch of great mainstream rap albums every year is dead. Only a handful of rappers can sell significant numbers of albums today.
