I went out for a few hours this morning, only to come back heartbroken.
I fished out of Kern's cause I've been having some luck out there. Went to some of the spots where I've been catching. No luck for the first hour. So, I'm pitching my craw into the grass patches on the flats when all of a sudden *THUNK*! Huge hit on my line. I reeled down to him and set the hook. The water swirled, the fish took off, my heart started pounding! I thought to my self "hooooooly crap, this has got to be a 10+ lbs bass!" He fought for a good bit. My line was letting out some drag and my rod was bending to its limit. All of a sudden the fish surfaced....... A fricking catfish. Got him to the side of my yak to see if I could get the lure out of his mouth with some pliers. He had swallowed the damn thing. So I cut my line. Lost my bait and 1/4 oz tungsten bullet weight. Probably about 25 lbs cat. In 3 feet of water.
