But.. If it's a new to you boat, maybe stick close in during the fall til you park it just in case something malfunctions and so you can get a read on how the boat performs. Then over the winter fix any problem areas and get your tackle ready and in the spring you'll be ready to wreck shop on the endangered red snapper (if there are any left) et al.
