The name “Soylent” is a reference to the 1973 film Soylent Green, in which it’s revealed that a futuristic new food designed to feed an overcrowded Earth is made of people.

The biggest question I have is why would you name your product "Soylent" when the movie specifically says what it's made out of?

That's like naming your brand of hot dogs "Pig Assholes" instead of Oscar Meyer.

There were several soylents. SOYLENT brown was made from grain and animal products. Actually a really good idea. That's what we could give to welfare people
