In the 2 years Brees broke the completion % record, he still had a very, very high Yards Per attempt. Finished 3rd in 2009 and 6th in 2011.

So were the guys in front of him with higher yards per attempt? Of course not! Higher completions mean you need less long balls and usually end up withe a better qb rating. All the underneath completions are what set up the long ball success though!

So when comparing Mett and Berg with those stats, the 1.5 yards per catch is not a factor when one guy was basically 15% more accurate on completions, which, as you see, gets you yardage. Like Brees, short accurate passing becomes the same as a running play, basically.

I DO NOT think Berg is better than Mett. I do think he has more knowledge of reading defenses and coverage schemes than our top 2 guys at his point. I'm not guessing here, it is fact that he has a year of on field experience. YES, there would be a dropoff in physical skills if he were forced into duties, but he would be LIGHT YEARS ahead of Foster in the understanding of the college defenses and experience. And lets face it, teams would basically have 9 guys in the box trying to disguise everything.

I don't understand what that even means

He threw the most deep balls in the NFL in both years that he broke the completion % record

That isn't statistically accurate. Their is a much stronger statiscal correlation with Yards per Attempt in relation to Passer Rating than Completion %.

Foles had the highest YPA and finished 1 in Rating.

Only the 9th and 10th QB's for YPA finished outside of the top 10 in Passer Rating.

I don't disagree with that at all. I disagree with you saying that he crushed Metts stats and your opinion on YPA

You see, when your completion % is higher, the yds per average doesn't mean shite. I'd much rather 20% high completion % and 1.5 yds less per catch....but then again, I know the game.

There's a reason why throwing downfield is not considered a "high percentage throw". It is a staple in spread systems, guys padding cmp% in short easy throws which gets playmakers in space. Look, he did good in JUCO, but not as good as Mett.

You sure you know the game bc it's very obvious you can't comprehend stats?

Thank you bengal^

Lol, he can't keep up so he "thinks" something. Take it however you like. The guy is very accurate on more throws and for more ydg. He's better than Foster will be a full year from now, much less this fall.
I really feel for you actually turning this into something else.....argue for Foster being a better option after sitting 2 years...floor is yours. Leave Mett aside, he was great for us, these guys aren't in Metts league, but when one was, he did damn well..check the stats, lol
