FYI

quote:

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator is probably the most widely used personality test in the world.

quote:

An estimated 2 million people take it annually, at the behest of corporate HR departments, colleges, and even government agencies. The company that makes and markets the test makes somewhere around $20 million each year.

quote:

"There's just no evidence behind it," says Adam Grant, an organizational psychologist at the University of Pennsylvania who's written about the shortcomings of the Myers-Briggs previously. "The characteristics measured by the test have almost no predictive power on how happy you'll be in a situation, how you'll perform at your job, or how happy you'll be in your marriage

Interesting article y'all. Do any of you hiring managers administer this test? Think it's a useful tool?

I'm not a hiring manager, but we administer this test as part of Command and General Staff College - I think it is a useful tool in teaching our students about thinking.

I would definitely agree with that - doesn't make it invalid or worthless for specific purposes.

I didn't know people used it professionally. I thought it was intended for personal use and that's about it.

I do fall really well into the slot they gave me. My character matches it to a T.

Useful. Found it to be one of the most accurate PIs from my experiences. Our company uses these for work teams - individuals are assessed and the the members' graphs are overlayed for team index. Pretty interesting stuff.

I'm turning this into a 'list your MBTI type' thread.

ENTP, bitches.
