The last few times I have eaten there, the thin fried catfish tastes just like cooking oil and not much fish to speak of. The thin fried fish was almost too thin, if that makes any sense. Like nothing but batter and oil.
Maybe I am just used to eating better fried seafood living in these parts now. There are literally a hundred other places that do fried seafood better than Middendorf's, IMO. I do like their hush puppies, nonetheless.

Taste of Tokoyo in Ormond is legit for sushi. Not very far from Laplace.
