The fences are down.

Other Florida schools like FAU, FIU, and UCF have stepped their game up in recruiting. Withering facilities, ho-hum coaching choices, you name it. They haven't improved their program one iota in over 10 years.

EDIT; They JUST built a new football facility, last year.

Nail in the coffin was the demolition of the old orange bowl.

Dolphin's stadium is like an hour away from campus.

I was wrong, they joined the ACC in 2004, not 2005

Let me put it another way:

Miami's record in the Big East (1991-2003) was 128-29, including 9 conference championships (6 outright) and 2 national championships.

Miami's record since joining the ACC (2004-present) is 75-50 with no championships of any kind (division, conference, or national).

If they get 8 more losses in the next 3 seasons, they will DOUBLE the total number of losses they had in the Big East.

This.

They used to be able to make a living off S. Florida and Miami area recruiting, whereas now every top program is looting that area for talent. Plus, they've made awful coaching hires, haven't done anything to keep up the facilities race, and their fan support is terrible when they're not doing well.

Like Goldrush said, you name it, they've done it wrong.
