As cruel as it sounds I was once even told by an officer in Livingston to "leave no witness" (kill an intruder). They can come back to sue you and in some cases, the injured robber wins the lawsuit. Even if they dont ein the litigation, you are out of thousands of dollars attempting to save your arse in court.

The deceased's family will probably sue if you kill too. I'm just playing devil's advocate. "No exceptions" to killing someone is a little absurd imo
