Well that's fine and Dandy. I quit playing golf about 15 years ago. When I got hooked, I really got hooked and played and played and played for years. When living in Dallas I had two groups I played with one Saturday and one Sunday. One Sunday morning I was sitting on the bed putting on my tennis shoes on this weird thought hit me like a ton of bricks. I thought "I would almost rather be going to work than to go golfing for 5 or 6 hours today". Wasn't much longer after that that I quit. I have played about 5 times the last 15 years.

If you watched Georges St Pierre's interview with Ron Kruck on "Inside MMA" this past Friday you would get an idea of what can happen. This guy was at the pinnacle of his MMA career and just walked away giving up his title because it wasn't fun anymore, which caused him to lose his desire.

Georges St Pierre on leaving MMA

I'm not saying it will happen to DM, but for anyone to say there is no way it could happen is just being ignorant. Another reason I would try to slow him down is the possibility of injury.

Oh I hear you about getting burned out on a sport (did it myself), but if the kid loves it, more power to him. He is extremely self motivated and driven, unlike most young kids, which is a bit refreshing. And the kid could make this hustle into the biggest payday of his life, which is why he does what he does. What he does is out of our control, so why not just support the kid and be thankful he is very solid in his commitment to LSU?

Kid: "hey dad, I like football. I want to train to get better and maximize my pro potential. Shucks, I can even earn myself a luxury lifestyle if I succeed."

Dad: "that's great! I'm glad you have the drive to be the best! There's just one problem though son."

Kid: "what's the matter dad? Am I too short? Too weak?"

Dad: "no son, the problem is you like football. How in the world could we pull this off now?"
