I'm afraid Mix would have gotten swallowed up by the bigger, stronger midfields/defenses from basically every team we played, except probably Portugal.

Because, Alejandro Bedoya, Brad Davis, and Graham Zusi are really fast and powerful players right?
Brad Davis is the slowest player we've used since Conor Casey.
Diskerud can play as a wide midfielder. The point of a flat 4-5-1 has little to do with width or speed. Its whole purpose is to crowd out the midfield and compensate for a lack of possessive midfielders and target forwards (Dempsey, Clint). It sacrifices talent for bodies, in essence.
Diskerud has better vision than everyone in our pool not named Michael Bradley.
