Instead of dumping rivers for free, we keep him and send out gee in the Asik deal is the way I understand it.

So what are we giving up to acquire Gee and finalize the Asik trade? Can anyone answer this yet? My head is spinning.

You're not legit unless you have a Marcus Banks Jersey

I'm going full FAP mode if we keep Rivers, obtain Asik, and retain our exceptions. I love the spark that little bastard brings. It's infectious at home.

That means we can bring back a reasonable SF or Morrow also. If Monty wouldn't be such a stubborn mule and gave Reke a fricking shot at SF instead of assuming he knows everything the game of basketball has to offer:

Jrue, Gordon, Reke, Davis, Asik

Rivers, Morrow, Anderson, Withey off the bench.

There is no way that isn't a playoff team.

When Pelicans get Gee, they can complete deal for Asik and the Rockets next big piece to clear space for Chris Bosh. — Brian Windhorst (@WindhorstESPN) July 11, 2014

The math is still short, but it is really close. CBA FAQ Outgoing salary Maximum incoming salary $0 to $9.8 million 150% of the outgoing salary, plus $100,000

Assuming it is Gee + Ely + Babbitt

Luke Babbitt no longer on the #Pelicans summer league roster. Team updated it today. — Garland Gillen (@garlandgillen) July 11, 2014

($3,000,000 + $1,316,809 + $981,084) x 150% + $100,000 = $8,046,839.50 Asik’s cap hit is $8,374,646. Would have to include Withey or (ideally) get Scotty Hopson off Cleveland’s hands as well. Hopson’s unguaranteed contract is $1,450,878 and New Orleans could (hypothetically) keep Babbitt and sent out just Gee, Ely, and Hopson.

Sue me for having an opinion and getting excited that the team is keeping one of my favorite players on the team while adding a legit center when every possible report said he had to get shipped to make it work. It isn't my fault that every player on your team is a dislikeable attention whore, and yes I mean all 5 of them.

Hell yeah I am. Fire, competitiveness, toughness, work ethic, loyalty. I love those qualities. He sold me after he went 1 on 5 with the kings after the Reggie Evans elbow to AD. They don't have to be phenomenal players to leave impressions on the fans. I want those guys that will do everything to be as good as they can be.

ETA: let's not forget the mike Conley fiasco where aminu switched and he had to be dragged off the floor by morrow. Dude gets pissed he didn't get to D up on the game winning shot.
